Mohands Karamchand Ghandi

By Angelo Shimada
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi is very preeminent in humanities. "He was a leader of Indian nationalism in British-ruled India" (Keen). As such, he inspired movements for non-violence and civil rights, not just in India, but around the world. He was raised as the son of a senior government official, so he is very knowledgeable about politics. He was exposed to the injustices in the British government in India, which made him speak out against the inhumanity. He dedicated his whole life to decreasing tensions between peoples and extending freedom to all. In a world that didn't understand his aims, Ghandi was killed by a Hindu assassin who thought Gandhi was being too sympathetic to Muslims. Ghandi dedicated his whole life to others; this is what we need at TOMS.
As a political leader, Gandhi knows how to take charge. TOMS can definitely use his expertise in leadership, as well as his ability to effect change. We don’t want our company to stagnate; Gandhi’s leadership will prevent this from happening. However, his most important quality is his truly philanthropic nature. He did more than donate money to various institutions, he donated his life. “Asked to give a message to the people, he would respond, ‘My life is my message.’" (Colleen). His selfless nature is very desirable on the TOMS team, as we are constantly striving to improving conditions around the world- one shoe at a time. Gandhi will help us spread this message.

Mohandas Karamchand Ghandi, otherwise known as Ghandi, is known for his role as a leader of Indian Nationalism, commuting himself to a life-long fight for India's independence from Britain. "When he returned to India from South Africa, Ghandi spent the next thirty years of his life starting his revolutionary and successful campaign of non-cooperation against the British" (Dalton). He inspired many Indians to show their true power by leading thousands through a 240 mile march to the sea to mine salt, an act that clearly violated British law. He realized that in order to achieve change, suffering and sacrificing would be required and his accomplishments were nothing short of extraordinary. His life can best be described as a spirtual quest for self-realization, for he wanted to be synonymous with God. Ghandi handed the world the key to solving political ands social issues through non-violence and cooperation, and his legacy will never be forgotten.
"Ghandi's role as a leader revolutionized the lives of millions by presenting them with freedom in a oppressing world" (Sannuti). His leadership skills would be of great use in the Toms corporation. The Tom's team is in dire need of a leader to change their perspective in the industry and bring upon fresh ideas. Ghandi's way of thinking is unique to say the least and new approaches to everyday situations in the Tom's company are truly needed in this competitive market economy. Also, his peaceful nature could be of help when the TOM's team comes face to face with stress. His personality could uplift the company in tough times and present them with a positive outlook in the business world. Ghandi would truly be a great asset to the company and his accomplishments would continue to grow if presented with this opportunity.
